Hello and welcome to the
Good Steward Church Academy!
I am a Christian, Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified QuickBooks® Pro Advisor, Certified LivePlan® Expert Advisor, Member of the Intuit® Teacher/Writer Network, speaker, author, wife, and mom. Most importantly, I am passionate about helping church leaders honor God with the money entrusted to them.
For more than 20 years, I have been serving entrepreneurs, small business owners and churches with QuickBooks® set-up, training, and troubleshooting. I empower my clients to do what they can do themselves and walk alongside them as their On-Call Controller™ on an as-needed basis.
One of my first clients was my local church. The church administrator was excellent at organization and people management and his wife worked tirelessly to keep up with the bookkeeping and all the administrative tasks of starting a new church.
Although they were using a church-specific software, they were struggling to make sense of all the numbers, to create meaningful reports for the board and to truly manage the churches finances.
We converted their records to QuickBooks® and with a bit of hand-holding along the way. they began to understand their financial statements and to run their church “by the numbers”. Together, we created systems that would allow them to grow as a church and impact the community around them.
Today, that church continues to use QuickBooks® and many of the same procedures we set in place. They have grown from a single congregation of a few hundred people to ten congregations, employing hundreds of employees and serving thousands of members. They are respected among their peers and have made a positive impact in the local community as well as abroad.
Over the years, God has given me the opportunity to serve numerous churches of various denominations.
My goal is to create a win-win-win scenario for my clients’ bookkeepers, Treasurers, and Pastors. Bookkeepers win because they feel empowered and confident in their position and the day-to-day tasks required to produce good, solid numbers; Treasurers win because they have solid financial statements from which to oversee the direction of the church spending; and Pastors win because they can spend less time trying to manage the day-to-day finances and budgets and more time utilizing their God-given talents to shepherd their church and make an impact in their community.
